Hi, my name is Dan. I work as a professional 3D render artist for architectural projects and have been using SketchUp for years. Recently, I was working on some new client-based designs when I realized that the plugin called Twilight Render wouldn't compile properly on my system. Unfortunate... But not unsurprising! With all the software updates and changes in the industry, compatibility issues are inevitable... That's why I've put together this post on how to use the SketchUp plugin Twilight Render with all current versions of SketchUp Pro or Plus! From what it does to important installation tips, you're sure to find something useful in here. I'll start by describing the plugin, and then I'll provide a full SketchUp Pro/SketchUp Plus installation guide. I'll also talk briefly about SketchUp Make and why you might need it as well as Microsoft's .NET Framework 4 that's mandatory for this to work properly! The Twilight Render Plugin:So we're going to start with the Twilight Render plugin itself. Before we can use it, we must first install it:Once installed, the first step is to download and extract the Twilight Render files:The next step is to extract all of the files to a new folder on your hard drive (/Users/yourusername/Documents/Sketchup Premium Files). This directory will be referred to later in the article when we get to the SketchUp Pro/Plus installation process. Now, open up SketchUp and navigate to the Plugins tab.Next, enable "Developer Mode." This will be necessary when using Twilight Render for the first time because it needs access to the SketchUp API.With Developer Mode enable, go ahead and install any of your models or templates. Then click on them once to open them in SketchUp.Next, go back into the Plugins tab and click on Get Moreplugins..."Click on Extensions in order to access more plugins that you can use in SketchUp. Under the category of "Effects," you'll see Twilight Render. Just click on it to install.Then, click on "install" and you'll see a notification that the plugin has been successfully installed:Now, go ahead and try out the plugin! Once it's active, you should see something like this:The plugin adds a new tab to your SketchUp toolbar called "Render." This tab runs an . exe file from the Twilight Render installation folder (the one we extracted earlier). This tab also includes some default options:The "output directory" and "output filename" can be adjusted, of course.
